I was looking for a 308 semiauto and was not interested in an AR-10 platform. I purchased the rifle and 6 G3 surplus mags(5 dollars each) and took the PTR out to shoot. Not one malfunction in 75 rounds. The weapon is very comfortable to shoot. I was shooting two inch groups at 100 yards. The gun does beat up brass, but didn't throw it nearly as far as I had been told. I am going to buy a sight adjustment tool, I want to zero the 200 yard peep for 100. I don't care for the V battle sight at 100. Great weapon, really it is in a class by itself!

Even though a factory plastic guide rod, would probably be fine, with a braided wire, or round wire spring, I feel more comfortable with the metal guide rod.

Anyone converting a Sig Sauer P226, originally made in .40 S&W, may find themselves in a frenzy, with converting it to 9mm, even with a Caliber X-Change kit. Sig used a Slide Catch Lever that currently is known a Lever-1, which was made for .40 S&W only, in the P226. The P229 used the same Lever-2 for all calibers. Possibly due to projectiles with flat noses, there may have been problems with early slide lock with Lever-2 in P226s with their narrower double stacked magazine, reasoning for developing the lever currently known as Lever-1.
If your slide will not lock back with an empty "older" 9mm magazine, you will no doubt need to install Lever-2, as many current magazines have modified followers that will engage Lever-1.

It has taken ALL of the take up out of my p228 as well as made the reset very positive and fast. The reset feels almost identical to the sig one but the fact that it gets rid of take up makes it worth the extra price. This pistol is like a target gun now or something. This might only be on the older models like the p228 though.

Top gun is my first stop for pistol mags. They didn’t let me down with the Mec-gar 10mm 1911 mags. Very nice mags but hey they’re Mec-Gar. I’ve never had anything but great luck with this brand and I’ve used them in Sig, Beretta, 1911 .45aco and now in my 10mm. Great mags. Great service from Top Gun Supply.

The package arrived in just a couple of days. The trigger installation on my .357/.40S&W SIG P229 was definitely easier than the Armory Craft trigger I had previously installed. The adjustment for SA was quick and straightforward. I actually didn't need any adjustment for DA. My only negative comment would be that it came with no written instructions but there are plenty of excellent videos on You Tube to assist in the installation.
